Our work with local government and members has given us detailed understanding of the challenges local councilors face. We have experienced first hand the realities of implementing local government modernisation, building community engagement, service improvement, and scrutiny. We understand the pressures of balancing macro political and local representative agendas, and local politics with managerial leadership requirements. We have supported elected members in coming to terms with new (often unclear) roles and responsibilities, in building successful partnerships with professional officers and community bodies, and dealing with ambiguity, the pressures of change itself, lack of time, and limited resources.
